I joined Windsor Speakers because I wanted to develop a new skill. Having watched the professionals deliver speeches I thought this would be a distant dream. The idea of standing in front of an audience gave me goose bumps. After joining Toastmasters I quickly appreciated the ability to develop public speaking skills was very much within my grasp. My journey has been extremely beneficial and rewarding. Having been a Toastmaster for over nine years I am still an enthusiastic member.
I'm now able to stand in front of an audience and present without nerves and with complete confidence. I feel empowered and energised rather than the bag of nerves I was when I delivered my first speech. Not only have I developed a great skill but I've also made friendships along the way.
Windsor Speakers provides a wonderfully friendly, caring and supportive environment for people of any age, nationality, background and profession. You will find a warm welcome awaits you. Project manuals are well structured concentrating on specific elements which take you through your initial speech to becoming a Competent Communicator after just ten speeches. Every speech is evaluated providing constructive feedback, and individual support is on hand throughout the mentoring program. You will certainly notice a difference and your confidence will grow after just a few speeches.
Everyone has to start somewhere, so don't feel daunted or shy, Windsor Speakers provides an excellent platform to begin your speaking career. It's a great club and worth a visit. We look forward to seeing you soon!
I joined Windsor Speakers as I have always been impressed with how confidently some of my colleagues deliver their speeches in such an articulate manner and I always wanted to learn and harness such skills. At work I felt I had a tendency to avoid or rush through presentations thinking more about survival rather than ensuring my message had landed.
My introduction to the club was through a colleague who was also looking to explore such an environment. Attending the first meeting as a guest was enough to convince me that I had landed at the right place I had been looking for. Windsor Speakers have provided me with the opportunity to practice speaking in a safe environment and to work on skills that I would previously never had the opportunity to develop. I especially value the supporting environment and feedback of fellow members which is always constructive and positive. Most people are fearful of public speaking and since joining, I have gone from strength to strength. The feeling of conquering that fear is amazing, and has a positive impact in all areas of your life!
If you are looking to develop your public speaking skills and build confidence or simply enhance the skills you currently possess, Windsor Speakers is sure to provide you with a welcoming and friendly environment to achieve your goals. I found the environment at Windsor Speakers to be very friendly and receptive, and it is a great place to meet like minded people and work towards achieving your personal and professional goals.
Vice President of Membership.
I joined Toastmasters in order to develop my skills in public speaking. My job does not offer much opportunity for me to do this regularly but once a year or so, I would be expected to deliver a presentation in front of a large (and usually very senior) audience which would fill me with dread. I did not want my practice time to be in situations like this! Thankfully Windsor Speakers offer the opportunity to gain consistent and varied practice on a regular basis.
Windsor Speakers is a friendly and supportive environment for people of all ages and backgrounds. In addition, the more experienced members of the club offer valuable feedback through mentoring or evaluations which will help you on your journey to become the public speaker that you want to be.
Windsor speakers is a club that is well worth a visit. Visit us first as a guest and you will be warmly welcomed and enjoy listening to the entertaining speeches from other club members. There is no pressure to do anything that you do not want to do. We look forward to meeting you soon!
Although I present in my job (as a trainer) a lot, I joined Windsor Speakers to develop other presentation skills. I wanted to be a more accomplished active and engaging public speaker, wanting to break into the conference speaking fraternity. Timing, pauses, humour, passion and becoming more entertaining and memorable were my goals.
The club provides a hugely supportive atmosphere whatever level you are at.
I have moved on a lot in 4 years thanks to the other members.
Vice President of Mentoring.
I joined Toastmasters in order to become more confident and overcome my fear of public speaking. Being aware I could be called upon anytime at work to do a presentation I knew it was important for me to develop my speaking ability, especially in order for me to progress in my career.
Prior to joining I had attended a couple of presentation skills courses which lasted no longer than one day, however it was only until I attended Windsor Speakers I realised that this is far more effective, and exactly what I needed in order to build my confidence. Windsor Speakers has provided me with the opportunity to practice prepared speeches and impromptu speaking in front of an audience whilst also gaining invaluable feedback at the same time.
With a friendly and supportive environment, Windsor Speakers is ideal for anyone looking to improve their speaking skills. I invite you to come and experience it for yourself, I can guarantee you will be warmly welcomed.
Vice President of Education.
I joined Toastmasters as a joint member with my wife. While I never felt that nervous about public speaking I certainly wasn't jumping at opportunities to practice in front of groups.
Being able to speak in public is such a key skill. Toastmasters gives you that skill definitely but then you realise that it has much wider application. While a lot of us may not have to speak in public to audiences on a regular basis, we may have to speak on conference calls or at smaller team meetings at work. The practice and learning you'll get at Toastmasters helps with all of this too and you'll become much more confident about speaking in front of others in general.
Another skill that has been a key benefit to me has been organising and running meetings. Toastmasters has really helped me with this and that has been great in my work career. Toastmasters promotes the public speaking angle, and that is important, but there is also a Leadership syllabus and for many people, that will be just as applicable in daily life.
I joined Windsor Speakers in 2014, hoping to develop my speaking skill after nerves took the better part of me in an important interview presentation. Through the support of a community of friendly members, my confidence increased with each speech I gave. Now I deliver my presentations better and I have improved on my listening skills.
Through the platform provided by toastmasters for practicing, as well as the mentorship provided to me, I now enjoy standing up in front of an audience and I am able to manage my nerves so well, that I entered this year's Windsor Speakers club contest and went all the way to area contest where I came second. Looking back, I must say that it has been a very rewarding decision to join Windsor Speakers, it really exceeded my expectations and I am glad I chose to become a member.
If you're thinking of improving your presentation or speaking skills, I would encourage you to join Windsor Speakers. It's a great place to learn and improve!
Vice President of Public Relations.
