I initially joined Toastmasters because I was performing poorly in job interviews and was generally not confident in public speaking situations. I realised that to improve I would need to gain the consistent practice that Windsor Speakers provides.
Windsor Speakers has given me the chance to practice my presentation skills in an encouraging and supportive environment and receive valuable feedback from more experienced members of the club. I have been able to practice a range of different public speaking techniques to make my speeches more engaging.
When not speaking, I enjoy listening to the varied and interesting speeches of other club members, it is certainly more entertaining than an evening in front of the TV!
I have also had the chance to take on leadership roles such as the Vice President of Education role which I currently fulfil. This involves encouraging members to take on meeting roles and updating our website with role bookings.
I have certainly found attending Windsor Speakers to be hugely beneficial and enjoyable. I would encourage you to visit us, you will certainly be welcomed.
I joined Windsor Speakers as I have always been impressed with how confident public speakers deliver their speeches in such an articulate manner. At work I felt I had a tendency to rush through speeches thinking more about survival rather than ensuring my message had landed.
Windsor Speakers have provided me with the opportunity to practice speaking in a safe environment and also work on skills that I would previously never had the opportunity to develop. I especially value the feedback of fellow members which is always constructive and positive in nature.
If you are looking to develop your public speaking skills and build confidence or simply enhance the skills you currently possess, Windsor Speakers is sure to provide you with a welcoming and friendly environment to achieve your goals.
I joined Windsor Speakers as I wanted to develop a new skill. Having watched the professionals deliver speeches I thought this would be a distant dream. The idea of standing in front of an audience gave me goose bumps. After joining Toastmasters I very quickly appreciated the ability to develop public speaking skills was very much within my grasp. Iíve found the journey extremely rewarding. Having been a Toastmaster for over five years now Iím still an enthusiastic member.
Iím now able to stand in front of an audience and present without nerves and with complete confidence. I feel empowered and energised rather than the bag of nerves I was when I delivered my first speech. Not only have I developed a great new skill but Iíve also made some good friendships along the way.
Windsor Speakers Club provides a wonderfully friendly and supportive environment for people of any age, nationality, background and profession. You will notice a difference after just a few speeches. Project manuals are well structured and concentrate on specific elements which take you through your initial speech to becoming a competent communicator after just ten speeches. Every speech is evaluated, providing constructive feedback and individual support is on hand through the mentoring program.
Everyone has to start somewhere .... donít feel daunted or shy, Windsor Speakers provides an excellent platform to begin your speaking career. Itís a great club and worth a visit. We look forward to seeing you soon!
I was recommended Toastmasters by an experienced speaker I met at a conference. Up until that point, I had tried to avoid public speaking. It meant I never did teaching on my PhD and I had to ask other people to present my papers at events. Whenever I did get up and speak, I got very nervous and did very badly.
My initial plan for joining the club was to learn some discipline in everyday communication - I talk fast and interrupt a lot. However, I have since found great relish in public speaking. I realised that I was my worst enemy - that thinking I was a bad speaker created a self-fulfilling prophecy. As soon as I had decided to join Toastmasters, I released my inner public speaker.
Usually a perfectionist, I am tackling different skills, one at a time (memorising, speed, feet & hand movements, eye contact). I have a long way to go but I am loving the journey. At Windsor Speakers, I get to hear other people's stories, see them progress or I get to talk about myself. What's not to like!

Speaking is an important part of my job. It ranges from talking to clients and partners to presenting in scientific conferences. I found that Toastmasters is the perfect place for me to develop this skill. The structure and the support they offer help me take the steps I need towards becoming a better speaker, be they small or large enough to fit my needs.
As a plus, the club encourages you to take on roles during and in preparation of the meetings, which is also a great opportunity to improve on other skills like team work, organization and time management. This is definitely a welcome benefit for my professional self.
What is more important is that I found the environment at Windsor Speakers to be very friendly and receptive, and it is a great place to meet new people and make friends.
